| A gift from my daughter when she moved... |
02/22/07 – It was a sad day for me when my daughter Joan, her husband Bill, and my two grandchildren moved to California When I kissed them goodbye at the airport, Joan gave me a farewell gift. I missed my grandchildren already and their plane was still on the runway. When I returned home, I put my gift on the table. Then reality set in: it would be a long time since I saw them again. Later that evening I received a call. They had all arrived safely in California and were getting used to their new home. "Well," Joan said. "Did you open it yet?" She was referring to the gift that was still sitting on my kitchen table.I opened the box and, at first, I didn't know quite what it was. "It's an Ojo video phone," said Joan. "Now you can 'see' us whenever we call." My husband set it up and I couldn't wait to dial their number. I called and my six year old grandson Jon answered. Looking me right in the eye he said "Hi Nana," and with an extra big smile he showed me his missing front tooth. All of a sudden I didn't feel separated by the miles; it was as if I was sitting right next to Jon in my living room. "Why are you crying Nana?" he asked. "Tears of Joy," I said. "Ojo, tears of joy."
